El Alberto is the name given to one of the regions of the state of Hidalgo, in Mexico. Located in the center of the country, Hidalgo is known because of its water scarcity. In the region El Alberto, the communities depend on small sources which are most of the time polluted and located far away from their homes. Indeed, women often have to carry the water on buckets all the way to the community. Concretely, it takes more than 3 hours a day to go and bring back water …
This project El Alberto in Mexico emerges as an initiative from Xóchitl Gálvez, Porvenir foundation and HOD México.
Its purpose is to provide health through water to inhabitants of El Alberto and other indigenous communities in Hidalgo, Mexico.
Through this, the project has two main objectives:
1. Bringing health through water at very affordable prices and
2. Providing a sustainable way of live to many indigenous women.
