The Global Adaptation Index

Discover the he GAIN Index (Global Adaptation Index) serves as an overall measure of a country’s vulnerability to climate-related hazards and its readiness to adapt to the challenges posed by climate change and other global forces. It is calculated as the readiness score of a country minus its vulnerability score, which is then scaled to a score between 0 and 100.

The indicators used to calculate the GAIN Index are based on vulnerability and readiness aggregations down to the raw data themselves. An explanation of the methods used to convert the raw data into the scores can be found on this part of the GAIN website.

The map on the website of the index will give you an interesting 15-years-overview of the World’s vulnerability to climate-change.
